Three different members of the University of Delaware’s Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) were recently recognized at the Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association (EATA) Convention for three separate awards.
Senior Melissa Gutheil won the EATA Quiz Bowl, a Jeopardy style competition for National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) student members. She will now represent her district and UD ATEP at the NATA Quiz Bowl competition at the national convention in June.
Senior Jordan Del Bianco was recognized as the recipient of a prestigious EATA scholarship. EATA scholarships honor outstanding students from the EATA membership who have excelled academically and clinically as professional (entry-level) athletic training students. These awards are meant to encourage the recipients to continue their education toward a professional athletic training degree and pursue a career in athletic training.
Dr. Thomas Kaminski, professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Applied Physiology, was inducted into the highly regarded EATA ’49 Club. The Club recognizes members whose contributions demonstrate sustained leadership and reflect positively on the EATA and their home districts. Becoming a member of the ’49 Club is considered the highest honor an EATA member can achieve and is equivalent to Hall of Fame recognition.
Congratulations to Melissa, Jordan and Dr. Kaminski!
